Did you have any problems before 130k miles? That was a lot of stuff that broke all at once which is a major pain, of course. But if the car served you well before that point I wouldn't complain! Struts are maintenance items, by the way, they do not last the life of the car.

I think the care given to the car and the way it is driven must count for something. All the positive comments about this car, then this one wild card. You just have to wonder. I have 163,000 on my car with few problems. Absolutely the best car I ever owned or imagined owning. Just try to find one of these cars for sale!

If your car has lasted this long, consider yourself lucky. I know many people with a Chevy or a Dodge that hasn't lasted that long, and that was with great care. Maybe your bias against Ford stopped you from treating your car well.

I have an 1990 T-Bird and have nothing to complain about until recently. We took very good care of this car. We only drove it one winter up here in the north because of the salt on the roads. There is no rust as a result of it. Other than regular maintenance, the air conditioner went in 1995, cost $1000 to fix and is still working.

Other than that the head gasket blew at 160k which cause it to overheat and warped the head. It was a surprise to us since we hoped to get 300k out of it. Now from reading about the 3.8L engine gasket defect I'm afraid we won't get far with the used engine we paid $2000 to replace. We put in a 1994 engine with 119k on it. Not sure if we should just dump it before it happens again.
