The 1987-88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe was a very advanced car for its day. It came with Automatic Ride Control, ABS Braking System, 4-Wheel Disc Brakes, Turbocharged engine. Ram-Air Inter-Cooling, Regular/Premium fuel switch, etc. It was a really great car. I've also seen a couple Turbo Coupes that were professionally converted to the 302 HO V-8 engine! On the inside you usually had the Equalizer, premium radio/cassette, Auto Temp Control air conditioning, excellent Mustang GT style bucket seats, dual Six-Way power seats with power recliners, Tilt wheel, Autolamp, power windows, auto power door locks, etc. It was a very nice, well thought out package.
I personally owned a 1988 Turbo Coupe that was an automatic trans car in gold metallic with a gold cloth interior (a very rare Thunderbird color combo). Our car was always reliable, but it used to eat coolant until we replaced the water pump which solved this problem. I still don't understand why Ford produced the car with two different horsepower ratings, 190 HP for stick, and 155 HP for automatic cars.
