1992 Ford Thunderbird review from North America
"Easily Worth more Than 10 Times What I Paid"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The Only Major Problem I've had with this Car is The Rear Shock mounts Have Rusted and One has already broken Loose and the other will follow soon.
There is Small Rust spots on the Rear wheel wells and on the Front "Lip" of the hood.
The Clips on the Left and right Switch Panels For the Power Windows Switches have broken and now need to be taped on to keep in place.
The Rear seat has faded slightly on the Top from exposure to the Sun.
My headlights have began to turn Yellow as many Others have.
Driver's side Door Handle is Broken and has to be in a certain position to open the Door.
Outside Door lock on the Driver's Side has Quit working, but is probably and easy fix.
Both Front and Rear Drivers Side Wheel Bearings need Replaced.
Struts and Shocks Need replace as they Are still Original.
Turn-signal Lens need Replaced as they are broken.
The Sliding Plastic Plates that cover the Opening in the Floor shifter have mostly broken off or stopped moving.
General comments?
This has Been a Great Car despite its Problems.
The Seats and Cabin are Comfortable And Fairly Spacious Even on Extended Trips.
I'm Up to almost 155,000 miles and have yet to have a blown Head Gasket like Many others with comarable or even less mileage have had, And at this mileage the Engine and Transmission Have yet to give me a problem "Knock on Wood".
Over all this Is A Great vehicle and will continue to be for years to come.
I'd Recommend this as an excelent Daily Driver or as a Weekend Project. This Vehicle Style Extends Out to the Ford Thunderbird, Mercury Cougar, And Lincoln Mark VIII which all share the Same Body Style Designation MN-12 "Meaning Mid-size North American Project 12", I have heard of a MN-12 lasting pat 250,000 miles. Also These Vehicles can be modified To Run Under Eleven Seconds in a Quarter Mile and Have Exceeded 150MPH in 1 Mile "Only Cars Equipped with a Modified 4.7L V8 or an other V8s that has Been Heavily Modified Have made it this Far" and can reach 107MPH Completely Stock Before reaching It's Speed Limiter.
