1983 Ford Thunderbird review from North America
"Huge disapointment"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The starter was repaired twice
flywheel teeth broken from starter
power windows are slow or don't go up
blown fuses every week
horrible gas millage.
General comments?
Bought this car because of the style and needed very little to get on the road. Every week, something else went wrong with it. Every time I tried to bring it in for a safety, something would prevent it from running.
It does have good style and a nice interior, but lacks in trunk room and rear leg room and only seats 4. The engine power is a joke for a large 3.8l engine. My wife was driving a 1991 Mazda 626 with a 2.2l and I was following her. At no point could I get close to catching up with her. I got 22 mpg on the highway and 16 in the city.
The car will be sent to the wreckers soon despite the nice body and interior. I refuse to spend any more money into this junk heap and after owning a previous Ford product, I will never buy a Ford again at no price.
