Bought the vehicle in 99 from the Ford dealership in Barrie, Ontario used. Have family of six. Can't afford new vans. Have to rely on used vehicle two to three years old.
Found out about a month later the front axel was cracked so the vehicle was sold to us in this manner.
I assumed the dealer did a full inspection of the vehicle before they sold to a customer. I guess not. Cost was $1800.00.
Tires were not new, 60% worn. Same thing on the aerostar. Not a happy camper. (500.00 for tires)
Since then eventhough we kept up on the usual maintaince to include, exaust, tie rods, shocks, the transmission went. Replacement cost 3100.00. O2 Sensor changed twice same year different locations. (400.00) Definitely not a happy camper.
Inside the vehicle plastic is coming away from the windows. Rain coming in.
Sorry guys no more money to give you.
Its my last Ford.
P Smith.
Ford is a comfortable vehicle however there is a lot to be desired for reliability and cost effectiveness.
I also purchased a used 1995 Ford Wind Star in September 2002 it is now November so far I have replaced the transmission which failed on a family vacation 900 miles from home (2500 dollars). 1 week before that the starter failed 200 miles from home left me and the kids stranded 200 miles from home (450 dollars) Yesterday Nov.7th had the car in shop they replced a exhaust manifold gasket for 333 dollars and charged me 68 dollars to figure out why the air bag light kept coming on they did not know. Also charged me 68 dollars to tell me that I needed a new aircleaner box for 400 dollars and a new water pump for 1200 dollars. Finally they suggested a new engine at 3500. They told me they would take the car in trade if I bought one of their used or new vehicles. There is simply no way that I will purchase an other Ford, I sold my Isuzu trooper because it had 220 000 miles on it, but it was a better car at that mileage than the Ford at 100000.
