1995 Ford Windstar GL review from North America

The van has been a constant source of money drain.

Problems started with a suspected head gasket fault from a neighborhood mechanic who also told me that there is a recall on this item from Ford on this. I talked to Ford and found out that the 7 year extended warranty for this part expired for my particular vehicle two months ago. The customer care still were accommodating and asked me to visit a "Ford dealer" and get their opinion and based on that response they'll be able to cover a portion of the repair cost since the warranty expired just a couple of months ago and that I was not aware of this recall.

I went to the closest 'Ford' dealer and after spending $82.- on the evaluation found out that nothing is wrong. About 8,000 km and one year later, I find out from the same dealer two weeks ago that the whole engine needs to be replaced. The engine coolant has contaminated the engine somehow and would have to be replaced. Expected cost about $6,000.- after everything is said and done including taxes!

Besides this big problem, the right front power window stopped working soon after I acquired the van.

Had other irritants like broken stabilizer bar (I think it connects the two front wheels) etc.

I had bought it with a lot of hopes of keeping it for a while, but quickly realized that the sooner that I get rid of it, the better.
