1998 Ford Windstar review from North America
"reliability could be better"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Tie rod ends had to be replaced at 31,000 miles just 4 months out of warranty which cost 200 dollars to repair.
The day after the tie rod replacement a high speed vibration in the front end started occurring. The vehicle has since been re-aligned, tires have been replaced and re-balanced, the front end was checked and re-checked. So far I haven't been able to find anyone who can fix this problem. It's a 5 year old vehicle with just 35000 miles on it that was cared for and maintained. Judging by some of the other horror stories I've read regarding the windstar I guess I should consider myself fortunate. Needless to say i'll buy a Toyota or Honda the next time.
