1997 Geo Metro review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Aside from normal maintenance, nothing has gone wrong with the car. I have driven the car for 70,000 miles since I bought it and nothing has needed replacement outside of the normal maintenance schedule, and the car has never let me down.
General comments?
The Geo Metro probably one of the best deals on the road. I bought mine with 10,000 on it and got it for a song.
I do much more driving than the average person, I retired my '89 Chevrolet Cavalier wagon to a friend at 285,000. I picked the Geo because I personally know two people who have Metros in the 200k+ range and from everything I have experienced so far I have every reason to believe my car will be a mileage winner also.
It costs next to nothing to operate, has more leg room than most of the other cars at work, has never let me down, and gets incredible gas mileage. The dealer called it "basic transportation", but so far I'd have to say that with all things considered, this car is exceptional.
