1991 Geo Metro XFi review from North America
"The Metro can't be beat for its fuel economy and reliability"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clutch
transmission.
General comments?
Geo Metro's are the best car for the price & fuel economy. I experienced the best MPG during a trip with my brother on a 3400 mile round trip vacation. Doing 70-75 MPH, we were able to average 58 MPG with the car carrying 2 people & our luggage. The car had about 30,000 miles on it when the trip was made.
The only real problem I would say is inherent to the whole Suzuki/Geo line is the second gear synchro. But, just remember, I was 21 when I purchased this car. Which was why I replaced the clutch & transmission. The best improvement is to use synthetic fluids in motor & transmission. Otherwise the cars are unbeatable for their reliability & fuel economy.
I sold the car to my brother who still drives the car today. We still drive a '90 Metro & '92 Metro convertible.
I also currently race the Suzuki Swift GTi version of the Metro. Also a hard to beat car. Think of it as a Geo Metro with horsepower.
