1992 Geo Metro Base review from North America
"I wish they still made them, as I would buy one"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At about 3500 miles the brakes started to shimmy on front. Although I am hard on the vehicle the original clutch lasted 111,000 miles, but it wasn't wore out, but the springs broke in it on the clutch disc. Radiator plugged up at 140,000, had to change.
General comments?
This is indisputably the best car I have ever had and I have had over 100. the original battery lasted 101/2 yrs (185,000mi). the starter, alternator, rear brakes, wheel bearings, drive axles, struts, steering parts, are all original and still perfect. It has no rust, but the engine is weak on 1 cyl (75psi comp) which rough idles with air on. It ran 100 mph when new, and would get 3 gears of scratch, it will still run over 90. If you have a cruise the car is very comfortable in the front with plenty of room. Interior still does not have rips in anything. It has a real headliner which will not fall apart in 10 years like other cars. Paint is still good except for hood where rocks have beat it. I love this car.
