Head gasket, burnt pistons, broke crank shaft, CV axels, all types of sensors. All of these items broke because of the 10-12lbs of boost that was being pushed out by the garret t3 turbo.
I have by far had the most fun with this car. I ripped out the 3cyl, put a 1.3 sohc in and turboed it. I did a lot of custom work to this little car. Pushin out 131 horse's at the wheels made me smile, I started with 55, then 70, doubling what the factory 1.3 litre produces. This wicked 1700lb Integera, Civic, and Subaru eatin machine started out as a little 55 horse econo-box. Too bad I have spent enough cash to buy 2 or 3 of them new, (about $14,000). This car is such a blast and when you smoke an integra or a eclipse from stop light to stop light, you can't even explain the rush! Many of you ricer boys have gained respect for my little neon green sleeper of a metro.
This review is probably interesting to, well, somebody, but it would not be of any benefit to someone with a stock 90 Metro.
Also, using the expression "lil" is just annoying.
I'm disappointed (not really tho) you did this to a really economical car even with the 1.0L it's a blast to drive
(maybe not a g force machine) but I love the extra weight in my pocket book, by the way I drive a 93 metro and commute 60 miles a day
i just think it's crazy what you did with ur metro, but I can hang with that, if ur blowin doors off those other little rice burners GO FOR IT!!!
Ur crazy man...lol...
Oh by the way I've had mine for 4 years and the only
problems I've had is
1..my dog punctured both my back tires (he hates cars)
2..i use 1qt of oil every 120 miles (blew the main seal) but that's OK cause it only costs me.75 cents a quart of oil from dollar general)
i still love the car, seriously
i checked at jcwhitney and it only costs $235.00 for a rebuild kit...I'm hangin with that
in all seriousness tho it's a great little car
thanx to all

Hi, my name is David from Polk County Florida, I own a 2000 Chevy metro LSI Hachback. They sell lots of parts for these cars in Europe, Canada. These cars are fast I've modded my car with lots parts from mistubish and suzuki porformance parts by searching Yahoo. com that my fits this car. I like Metros, Focuse, VW GTI, Mini Coppers, and Bettles. These cars listed have parts that will fit the metro LSI 4Cyl. You guys should consider going to rally sites theay will give ideals how they modd small cars to race instead of talking about turbos and Nos.
Hey hows it going I'm twenty years old and I own a 92 GEO METRO I have had it now for six months and have had olny one problem and it was the CV Joint. It has been hit by a Hummer H2, side swiped by a civic who didn't like my cardboard body kit, and had to buy three difrent stereo's for it. I love the story about eating up civics and other ricers I'm getting ready to make a cold air intake for mine. I bought mine for 400.00 and and had to put in 130.00 in to it for repairs becouse of auto zone sinding me the wrong part three times. but any how rock on man and keep eatting that rice its healthy for you.
I just purchased a 1991 geo metro lsi convertible 1.0ltr. This of course being the defacto power plant. Problems so far. Smokes some, clutch release bearing makes ever so slight crunching, strange, sound, when in neutral, clutch pedal out. "Whew" "sic" And when taking off from a stop The car shudders and jumps up and down if the clutch is not released almost all the way before acceleration. It also will jump out of gear at this point, but at no other time. All engine and transmission mounts seem to be like new. Other than that. I love the "little squirt" and plan on restoration and repair. Anyone that can shed some light on these subjects I thank you now. Vehicles 1985 Fiero 2M4 SE, 1967 Chevy 3/4tn L/b P/U, and now 1991 Geo Metro Lsi convertible. PS the a/c still works in the Geo. paid 150.00 US for it and drove it 50 miles today. Top down of course!

I have owned a 91 Geo convertible since 1996.Have never raised the hood other than having the oil changed. It is a lot of fun to drive specially on a late afternoon with the top down. I own a 01 Mustang and would prefer driving the Geo over the Mustang any old day!!
Hi there you all. Thanks to real dollars given to me by Citibank for using their card, I bought a 91 Convertible of the Sprint kind. The gas economy is marvelous. The parking in tight quarters is great. The speed put out with the auto-tranny is ok. What I hate about it is the ceremony of putting down the top and, after a day's traveling putting it up again. Up here in Canada, the temperature in late afternoon drops down a few degrees, enough to contract that vinyl roof. It takes two to hook it up again. Fortunately there is a company in the States that manufactures a cloth top with a zippered window. Mine is going to be dark blue. Now, are they hard to replace? I would like to do the job myself. If anyone knows this, please share your knowledge. Thanks.
The 2000 Metro was a Chevrolet, not a Geo. Why? Because 1997 was Geo's last year so for '98 the Metro, Prizm and Tracker were moved to the Chevrolet line.
Hi my name is thomas I was just wondering id any one on here maybe had a site or a place I could go to find a 91 geo metro body kit for my sons show car if you do please feel free to mail me with the information
thanks! thomas.
Hello.
I purchased a 92 Geo Lsi Convertible. Up here in Canada the road salt had eaten the bottom out. Replaced with steel. Bought a new top for 178 dollars on ebay. Fit perfect. Just a tad loose so even with the cold here, it closes with one person easily. Rocker panels were rusted out. Replaced them with new steel. Fenders were rusted out. Replaced with oem's for 68 dollars each. Interior is great. Repainted fire engine red. Looks great with the top down. Total for purchase of the car and restoration which included new brakes and complete exhaust...1500 dollars. Had a problem with compression in one cylinder so I put a litre of Lucas oil treatment (thick golden oil) and it brought the compression right back up. Very pleased with the car and have been offered 4,000 dollars for it. Great little investment and a blast to drive.
If you get the chance, by a geo. Their a great car for the money and you'll be happy you did. With the cash you save you can make it your origional expresion... Enjoy.
People really offered you 4x book value for your rusty Metro?
My only question is, where are these stupid people? I got beachfront property in Kansas I need to unload on somebody!
Hi - mike with a 2000 lsi. this car is unreal on gas,42-45 mpg. I've had no problems with this car. it's very tight. they don't make them like this anymore.
Anyone know where I can buy new rocker panels for my 92 Geo Metro convertible? E-mail: alleyct@optonline.net
Rocker panels were never made available after the factory shut down production.
You are going to have to make them from scratch or find a good body car with smashed motor. Good Luck.
