For some reason, the battery is drained if the door is slightly ajar when the car is turned off. I assumed my battery was bad and had to buy a new one, only to have it die as well. It was tough finding the problem.
There is an annoying screechy buzzing when you first turn on the car, telling you to fasten your seat belts.
The hatchback has a tendency to fall on your head in cold or wet weather.
In speeds of over about 70 mph, it's a bit hard to steer, and it's so light the wind whips it about.
A spark plug has jumped out of place twice.
Last month a headlamp burned out.
It is not very suitable for very large people, my friend is 6'4 and he has to slump over when riding in it.

It's a tough little car. It's very durable. I have a dog and a little brother and it's interior has withstood both of them.
It gets very good gas mileage, a must in the times of ever-growing gas prices. I drove it from Ohio to Alabama without having to stop for gas once!
It is very reliable and has never failed to start. And it has never left me stranded by the road either!
It is more spacious on the inside than you would think. Once you sit down in it, you can't believe it looks so small from the outside.

It has a lot of power for tiny a 3-cylinder engine, and if you need to make repairs, everything under the hood is very accessible.
I bought a 1994 Geo Metro hatchback from my girlfriends son for $300 bucks. It has 130.000 miles on it and is running just fine. The only things wrong with it is that the drivers side fender and the hood needs to be replaced. I've been going through and replacing little things like the air filter, alternator belt, PCV valve, light bulbs, spark plugs, changing oil and all that. It has the 3-speed automatic and gets 32 MPG. I use it to drive to work and putt around town, and drive my other car (a 2006 Ford Taurus) for longer trips. I love this car. Its fun to drive. And I can whip into the smallest sized parking spots!
