Air Conditioner is weak.
Front brakes replaced at 110,000 miles.
Muffler system replaced at 110,000miles.
Alternator belt replaced at above miles.
I have the 1997 Geo Metro Lsi Hatchback, 1.3 L manual transmission.
The car is peppy. Considering its small engine it is not far from the pep of my other sports car-Toyota MR2, Mitsubishi VR4, Mercedes SLC and Firebird.
The cargo capability of the hatchback is huge when back seat is folded down.
Gas mileage is great. 35-40 miles per gallon in the city and up to 50 miles per gallon in the highway.
I change the oil every 10,000 miles and tuned it up only once.
It so versatile. I use it for daily commute, have used it for long commute during vacations, used to carry big stuff like my pick-up truck and used it for camping. The front seats recline well, better than my other bigger cars and this very convenient in resting in rest areas during long trips.
I have converted it to All-Wheel Drive and runs well in snow.
I have owned over 30 cars and still have 19, but my favorite is this purple Geo Metro Hatchback. I dressed up the interior like my limousine. I love this car and planning to keep it forever. If I have to keep only one car, this is it-My 1997 Geo Metro Hatchback Lsi.
OK, I'll bite. How did you convert it to all wheel drive?.
Let's start with the transaxle; did you get it from some weird Suzuki? Is the rear axle the same, or did you make all this yourself at home?
Good choice of car! But I hope you are using synthetic oil if you are going ten thousand (!!) miles between oil changes. By the way, what the heck is "peep" and "peepy" unless you are horribly mistaken trying to spell "pep", you are insinuating your Metro gets off watching other cars without those cars knowing.
And why all the cars, man? Is it that hard for you to get around? Starting a collection? Can't think of anything else to blow your money on? Single? Ahhh, single. Right.
I have posted the original survey.
I did not expect some comments about it already.
I wish to thank everyone for their comments and will answer some of them.
Why so many cars?
Answer:I bought these cars new(except for the Geo Metro), but end up collecting them since trading them in generates very little money. I still drive them now and then. Only few are really collectibles which will probably worth some money later and to name a few-the listed sports cars and my 1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. I do most of the repairs. Instead of playing golf or tennis, I prefer to work on my cars. I am not a professional mechanic, but I'm trying. The difficult ones I ask my mechanic (of course I pay him). I am a surgeon by trade.
How about All-wheel Drive Conversion?
Answer: It is homemade and working on patent for it. For now, I can only do it for my own car until I have it patented.Stay tuned.
Why is it fast?
Answer: I have it turbo-charged.
Why change oil every 10,000 miles?
Answer: I only use synthetic oil and drive mainly highway.
Since I own it, I have put in over 60,000 miles with no problem.
I am curious as to how the patent process is going for you. I have thought about all-wheel drive conversion for sometime, and it would be nice to hear more of your process.
OK, I'm hooked about the conversion to all wheel drive what kind of frame did you put the body on? The only thing I can think of is another motor, transmission, supports, rear end, drive shaft and assembly from another vehicle. Because I know when I put a motor from an automatic into a 5 speed there was a bushing in the housing I had to remove. So come on now, the motor & transmission is siting sideways.
This is all very funny.
But we would all like to know about the awd thing.
Is it BS?
I did the original review of my 1997 Geo Metro Lsi and it has now 195,000 miles . It is still running but I have disconnected the A/C since it has been problematic. I continue to love it.
