"It is a great fuel efficient car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I have had to replace the throttle sensor 80$ (revs up on its own when you hold in the clutch with a poor one), EGR valve $90, oil pan gasket $5, and the hatchback door is frustrating to open. right front speaker is shorted.

General comments?

I like it as far as gas mileage goes. I get around 39-43 mpg, depending on how I drive it. It is defiantly not a car for racing or accelerating fast, considering it is a 3-cylinder 1.0 liter engine. I don't really like the fact that it does accelerate slow, b/c I like speed. If you like speed, then I don't recommend this car. If you are about saving money on gas, and having a dependable car, yes it is worth your money.

I had a mechanic try and fool me that my throttle position sensor and my EGR valve had failed. I said fine, drove it back to my front yard, removed both and gave them a serious soaking overnight in a bucket of gasoline. I then let them dry out for 2 days and once reinstalled I had no more trouble. That was 45000 miles back. I own a 1996 Metro. I hope this helps. Never believe what your mechanic tries to tell you.
