1996 Geo Tracker review from North America
"Fantastic little 4x4 Truck!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Idle speed needed adjutment, AC fan switch needs to be replaced. People regularly get 200,000 plus miles and more witout major repairs.
General comments?
Sturdy, dependable, pragmatic little truck. Off road capable, with slight mods, formidible. Plenty of power if not towing and make a few mods. I have the 16V manual. A Cat-back hi flow 2 1/4" exhaust adds a lot of power and mpg very cheaply. 1.5" coil spacers and 235x75x15 tires add great clearance.
I regularly get 28 mpg with city plus hwy driving. Use 35 psi in tires to get better mpg and street handling. Better mpg than my son's Civic! Use 20 psi off road.
Interior and exterior is well built and utilitarian, simple, and easy to maintain. The seats are very comfy while rather stiff. The A/C cools the interior very fast.
These trucks have a large cult following and there are many aftermarket parts being made and great clubs and websites with detailed information for DYI repairs and modifications.
