The driver's door nearly fell off when the bolts holding it on pulled through the door pillar - this is a manufacturing defect, as the small square nuts inside the door pillar are stuck on a very thin peice of metal they should have reinforced.
The velcro on the rear top corners didn't hold the top in around the rear window.
This vehicle is so dependable, easy to work on, durable, and fun, and cute, and looks so good, never rusts etc - that it almost makes you forget it doesn't handle very well being so short and tall. I think it would flip in a heart-beat. I know a slight breeze on freeways will blow you all over the road. The rear end will let go easily in slick conditions, especially in 2wd. 4wd is much more stable. Ride is rough with 30 psi tire pressure.
I like mine, it is great, nothing beats going down to the lake with the roof off.
You might want to lower your tire pressure to the 25 psi that the factory recommends to improve the ride quality.
Mine now has a 160000 on her. I changed the timing belt at 140000 for the first time. As far as towing she has done great (I won't give how big,for no one would believe me!) Put the first clutch in at 130000,only because of the towing, but she didn't need it. Always change the oil every 3000 miles. Just a great little car!
I'm a rural postal carrier with a 94 Tracker, (I bought it used). I love it. I have delivered in Snow, Hurricanes, rain and extremely hot conditions (A/C running). I haven't had a problem with handling. I have just had the transmission replaced, but hey, 5 years of stop and go and stop and go I'd say this is a very good vehicle. I've been with the post office for seven years and my Tracker is my third car.
