1995 Geo Tracker LSi review from North America

"Cute, reliable car you can't help, but fall in love with.."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The driver's side window does not roll up properly. I have to hold the glass steady with one hand while I carefully roll the window up or down. This isn't a huge inconvenience except when I have to pay tolls on the highway.

After owning the car for 6 months, I needed a new starter, which cost about $250.00.

Guzzles gas to the extent that I'm refilling my tank every few days; spending about $40-50 a month on gasoline.

General comments?

Although this car has its share of little glitches, I absolutely adore it. Yes, I DO feel every single bump and pothole in the road, and I spend double on gasoline compared to what I used to on my first car (an '89 Pontiac Bonneville), but my little black Geo Tracker definitely has its strong points...

It has started up right away in weather ranging from 3 inches of February snow, to pouring rain, to brutal August heat.

It is an adorable car to drive; cute, stylish, and toyish-looking. I've gotten countless compliments on it from both strangers and friends since I bought it this January.

Easy to handle, great maneuverability, a breeze to squeeze into tight parking spots that bigger cars can't get into.

The folding backseat can give you extra space to store your groceries and shopping bags, but can also unfold to comfortably fit two average-sized adults. (My three little brothers also pile into the backseat quite easily.)

For first-time drivers, beware 18-wheelers barreling past you on the highways. Strong winds make this little car sway wildly and feel as though you're going to blow right over.

I nearly wet myself the first time it happened to me.

I've heard many complaints that Geo Trackers don't handle well at high speeds, but the only speed I've ever felt unsafe at was exactly 65 MPH. For some reason, the car rattles noisily and sways excessively when I keep it at 65. Anything in excess of that is fine though. I take my Tracker on an hour-long highway ride into North Jersey every weekend at roughly 75 MPH and I don't feel in danger of losing control.

All in all, I am extremely happy with my Tracker and wouldn't trade it in for a different vehicle. It's cute, reliable, fun to drive, has given me few real problems, and it's the car I'd wanted since I was a young girl. Now, at 23, I finally have it and would definitely recommend it to anyone.
