1994 Geo Tracker Hardtop review from North America

"Excellent, reliable, and economical alternative to a Jeep"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Two small rust holes in both rear wheel wells where the rear seat belts bolt through body.

Original exhaust system rotted off at 110K miles.

Mounting bolt for A/C pump broke.

Paint faded a little on hood and front fenders.

Normal wear items.

General comments?

This is one of the most reliable cars/trucks I have ever owned. Nothing other than two small rust holes which I easily repaired myself, the original exhaust finally falling off, and a A/C bolt breaking have ever gone wrong with this truck. It gets close to 30 mpg highway or in town. Everything including the air conditioning works like it should (now that I fixed the bolt). I live in an area (southern Poconos) in PA where it snows A LOT, so 4x4 is almost a must. With new snow tires, this thing is just about unstoppable. I am passing 4x4 pickups in ditches in 18 inches of snow and barely slowing down in 4wd High Range. 4wd Low Range isn't necessary onroad unless you want to drive straight up the side of a building in a snow storm, although I have used Low Range offroad a couple times. My only complaints are that I have three big dogs who are a little cramped in the back (the seat is in the garage and has been since I acquired the truck), but that's no fault of the truck. Its also not very comfortable on long highway trips, unless those trips are during blizzard conditions.

Its also easy to work on and the parts are dirt cheap, including tires. Not that youll be buying a lot of parts; the Tracker is incredibly reliable.
