2002 GMC Envoy SLT review from North America
"What an awesome ride!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Load leveling compressor replaced 2x.
Drivers side memory module (controls heated seats too!)
Front wiper motor.
Rear parking brake pads exploded.
Headlights burned up about 3 or 4 wiring harnesses then stopped. Never replaced bulbs.
Thermostat (but to me that's a maintenance item)
I replace the battery every year, under warranty from Sams Club, because I noticed that my Envoy is picky to voltage.
Sway bar end links (all four, twice now). Again, I consider that a maintenace item.
General comments?
I love my 2002 Envoy SLT. In fact, I've never owned a vehicle over 2 years, I've owned the 'Voy for 4 years and going.. No plans on getting rid of it any time soon!
The heated leather seats are awesome, they get very hot. The BOSE 6 disc CD changer was yanked out last year and I installed a GMC Navigation unit I bought off ebay. Had the VIN programmed, and it works great! The OEM Bose system sounds awesome.
The ride of the Envoy is like you are driving on clouds. I replaced all 4 bilsteins with heavy duty bilsteins around 90,000 miles. I also have the rear load leveling suspension. Something about that combination, but it rides so smooth you almost feel like you are floating!
The finish still looks great, the moonroof still works great, I use my OnStar frequently (when my cell phone loses reception). Had the OnStar upgraded to digital last year.
