1998 GMC Jimmy SLE review from North America
"Great reliable vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Back seat belts don't like to latch... that is kind of a big one for me... I have a son.
Within the first month the transmission started acting up... got the dealer to replace it. Had it replaced with a junkyard one. Recently had it rebuilt due to seal failure.
I've replaced the fuel pump twice.
Here's a tip; don't run it low below a 1/4 of a tank, the pump doesn't like it.
Door panels broke. I fixed them once.
Door hinge pins had to be replaced, but I did it too late, causing the plates to get worn beyond repair. Eventually causing the latch to cave in my door... needed it welded. Door shuts but rattles.
Turn signal control has a short in it. It always says I have a door open. Gotta love the override.
Had to replace a windshield wiper motor.
General comments?
Overall engine has run great. Good power. Definitely needs reprogramming. I get an average of 20.3 mpg highway at about 70mph. Handles great.
Never been stuck.
I love this ride.
