"High versatility, poor reliability"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Well, everything seemed good when I got the truck in Oct.08, took it for a short test drive, spent $4000 and was happy with the deal.

On my way home, the check engine light turned on on the highway, and the truck was shaking and I figured it was the tires because the truck had been sitting for a few months. Got off the highway at my exit and stopped at a light, when taking off from the light, it shifted hard all the way home. After turning it off and starting it again, the shifting returned to normal. The hard shifting returns at random after highway trips.

I replaced the tires and still had the highway shaking, so I had them rebalanced - twice, and the tire shop suggested it may be a mechanical problem.

New battery.

My intake gasket suddenly blew while driving, that was a big job.

Gas gage stays at full and jumps all over, I use the trip computer to calculate fuel usage.

Door hinges are squeaky and loose.

Front end clunking, loose steering, water pump leaks, oil cooler lines leak.

AC stopped working.

Rear wiper sprayer and defrost don't work.

Heated seats light up but don't work.

Motor mount just broke.

I'm not spending money on anything until something goes that affects the ability to drive the thing, so I'll just drive till parts fall off, then replace them.

General comments?

Well I have a lot of complaints about the vehicle and it needs quite a few repairs, but has only left me stranded once when the intake gasket blew.

Other than those problems, I enjoy driving the truck. I like the many features that this fully loaded model has. Pretty decent off road ability for a small truck, very good in snow.

Poor fuel mileage. Creaky interior panels.

I purchase my 2001 Jimmy in September 2000 and still have it despite the problems. It has and always has had a highway shimmy. I have replaced tires, wheels aligned, balanced and rear end spider gears? Just too short of a wheel base. I have 213000 and still drive it today. Mine is a two door sport model. Back seat never used. Black five speed, V6 still gets it. Gas gauge is all over the place. I use the trip odometer, but has been overall reliable.

Gas gauge issues... replace the fuel sending unit.. shimmy issues.. replace balljoints.. simple fixes... intake gasket.. small job.. ($75 in parts 6 hours labor-4hrs cleaning).
