1998 GMC Jimmy SLT review from North America
"A Jimmy is a nightmare"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
It needed a brand new transmission at 30,000 miles. I have replaced the Upper and Lower ball joints. The Front Axle seal leaked, the Front differential seal leaked. Upper and Lower Cooler lines have been replaced, twice. The Shifting mechanism would not shift out of park. The parking brake would not release. The windshield washer lines do not stay connected. Alternator has been replaced. That is the things I can remember.
General comments?
This vehicle is very fun to drive and carries cargo very well. The cab is very comfortable and the accessories are very luxurious. Although it has been a nightmare to keep running. I would not recommend the purchase of a GMC, Jimmy as it will nickel and dime you in the repair shop. I was once told by a mechanic, "Jimmy's are a mechanic's best friend, because they are always in the shop."
