"A headache"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Thermostat broke and heater blower relay, replaced Door hinge, upper and lower pins, bushings with retainers on driver side door. Replaced engine block heater.
Fuel sending unit, and fuel pump.
Replaced both sets of oil coolant lines.
Water pump replaced.
Loose bolt on lower steering shaft. Replaced SIR Coil, had to reseal power steering pump.
Right inner axle CV boot split and replaced.
General comments?
Basically once my 1999 Jimmy hit between 100,000-150,000 Km, everything started to go wrong. Other than routing maintenance such as brakes, oil changes, replacing a battery, almost every major component to this vehicle has been fixed other than the engine and transmission.
To answere he question about the gas gauge not working at 1/2 full I had the same problem. When I got it checked out it was diagnosed as the fuel sending unit. Because the part automatically comes with a new pump and the labor to remove and fix was over $1000, I decided to clock my mileage for quite some time. However, eventually my fuel pump went. The smartest thing to do, is what I did. Find a used fuel pump as it comes all together with a sending unit, and replace it all at once. My mechanic, (one that I could trust) got me the used fuel pump and sender for $300. Took 2 hours in labor. So for $500 the problem was fixed. (DO NOT GO TO A GMCDEALER)
