Replaced my 2001 Silverado with this truck (See review Excellent affordable used truck) for the purpose of using the FlexFuel Option. Not much different than my Silverado otherwise. This truck has been spec'd out for use with two volunteer fire companies and serves as a brush truck. This is by far the best and most reliable truck that I have ever owned and will be driving this truck for many years to come. This truck pulls a 18 foot box trailer as though it wasnt even there; plenty of power to spare. Legroom in back seat area of extended cab is plentiful and comfortable. Ride is pretty quiet; I keep furnature polish on the weather stripping to keep it clean and effective. Power mirrors are great; I can retract them when going into or out of tight spaces. I am very happy with this truck.
Addition to the original writeup done on 11 August 2008. This truck now has just over 40,000 miles on it, and it is just as good a truck as the day I bought it new back in October 2007.
Only problem I have had with this truck is the controls on the steering wheel; the built in lights behind the switches are burned out on a couple of the buttons.
There is a little "outside noise", but not enough to take too much notice to. I get a rattle just above the driver side headliner in cold weather or at highway speed.
This truck is still used in the fire department; now a veteran of many fire, vehicle accident calls, and has performed superbly well.
Gas mileage is somewhere around 17-18 MPG on the highway; I clean the injectors once a year. Engine and powertrain equipment is all stock; does exactly what it is designed to do.
Very happy with this vehicle, and plan to have this for many years to come.
