1988 GMC Sierra SLE review from North America
"You can't beat a GMC!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Breaks, front shocks, back springs, ball joints, U-joints, intake manifold gasket, right side exhaust manifold, fuel pump, and the transmission all had to be replaced on it. The transmission was my fault since I went about 130,000km without changing the fluid. =S.
The lifters chatter a little bit if you don't let it worm up, but I've been putting some E.O.S. (GM Product) in every third or forth oil change and that has helped a lot. Having 347,270 km on the original 305, I'm glad that's all that's wrong with the engine!
General comments?
This truck has been the best truck I have ever owned! It has only left me stranded twice (once when the fuel pump went, and once when the transmission went). For the amount of km on it, the thing surprises me every time I drive it.
The truck is really fast, and can easily bury the speedometer. It corners better than most of the cars I've driven, and the 4X4 is great for snow storms, or out driving threw trails. The engine has never failed to start no matter how cold it is out, still has tones of power, and loves to perform.
I hope the truck lasts me another 300,000 km because it is SUCH a joy to drive!
