Well at 187,000km my transmission started to not shift properly. 1st to second at 20km\h it would jerk.
If anyone one knows what this is caused by please email me A.S.A.P at vanillachill@hotmail.com.
Well considering the mileage you have to give GM credit they have out done themselves.
Its only 2wd and I have 200horses under my foot and have lots of power from towing a FORD F-250 4X4 out of the water while launching his boat with the boat still atached.
The stereo is great I love how they put 4 speakers in a regular cab.
The engine will last a longtime too.
Mostly everyone though has transmission problems with theyre lineup of trucks.
Excellent work truck can tow up to a 5000 lb load I know I have.
This is great its not bad on fuel plenty of power low maintenance and the GM name you can trust.
I am the second owner of this truck and it has not been abused it was owned by a pest control service in napanee ontario.
I have owned many trucks and GM out does them all trust me FORD is problems and Dodge's are OK, but watch for electrical problems.
I have '98 Yukon. Transmission out twice. air conditioning replaced, 3 alternators, rear air replaced. 149000 miles. Am I to believe this is good?
You Have Probably just Neglected Maintenance. If you treat your truck with quality parts it should perform like new my 93 sierra has been trouble free for 256,543 km's now and I just do regular maintenance. Use good Quality Oil and Filter and plugs and you won't have many problems.
Transmissions are generelly bad for GM trucks, but mine still shifts nice and smooth.
Have your detent cable checked or adjusted. Just had an intake manifold leak fixed and had a hard 1st gear shift on my 92 P/U. Had the cable adjusted and now I'm good for another 130,000 miles.
I find it strange that so many people have problems with their transmissions in their GM trucks. I know of about 20 owners/abusers of GM trucks, and not one of them has ever had transmission, engine, or any mechanical problems, and a lot of them neglect a lot of maintanece, you know change the oil every 10,000 miles when towing, tow multiples of the alleged towing rating, that sort of thing, and all of them have over 150,000 miles on their rigs with that abuse and no problems.
