"Powertrain is awesome, rest is junk.."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I took this truck in under warranty 3 times and 3 dealers for the horn sounding like a escort horn... they said that it was normal... well now at 70000 my horn don't work anymore.. at 25000-30000 the gas pedal was sticking so I took it in and they said they have a notice at the dealerships about that and they fixed it, said carbon builds up on the throttle cable and it sticks. why no recall seems kinda dangerous the throttle sticking open?i know several people with this problem.. and it will keep happeneing. at 40000 replaced both front wheel bearing hubs.. about 220 each without labor.. then at 55000 miles I got a flat tire got all the parts to drop the spare tires down and guess what... that didn't work at all prolly never did dealer said the the cable thing was bad 150.00. had to cut the spare down with a haxsaw to get it down.. never fixed it yet... at 50000 4x4 light comes on sporratically.. dealer said bad switch...125.00 never fixed it also that special feature that is supposed to shut the power off to save the battery from going dead if you leave something on accident doesn't work from day 1 battery has gone flat dead even had gm send a tow truck to jump me in my front yard... also air leak in passenger doo (quad cab) FIXED MANY TIMES BUY THE DEALER AND STILL IS THERE.

General comments?

Very nice truck fast and handles well just make sure 4x4 auto is on when raining, or you will spin out lotsa power on just 2 wheels. need a lil more seat adjustment though I am 5 6...not 6 0.

No wonder the Japanese automakers are going to take over the entire truck market as well. American cars are just subpar at best.

The only place I hear these type of problems is on the Internet. I'm a GMC man, but in general all three American automakers make good reliable vehicles, and no question they build the best full size trucks in the world.

People that buy foreign vehicles should write a letter to their fellow unemployed or layed-off Americans, who were working for one of the big three or another company suppling parts to the big three. They should write, "If only you built better vehicles, then I would have bought one. I'm proud of my (insert make). Too bad for you, I hear McD's is hiring, try making a good hamburger. Maybe you can get a job in a foreign assembly plant in Tennessee? Only a fraction of American labor is used to make those vehicles, but I like them better."

I'm a mechanical engineer, and the improvements I have seen in the last 15 years to the American-made vehicles is impressive. Remember, they're competing against cheaper labor, unregulated companies and limited export sales.
