3000 miles had a main seal leak, took to original dealer.. fixed it. Since then, it has had 3 new clutches (I have owned nothing but manual transmission for 35 years.. not an issue of don't know how to clutch or shift). Had an electrical problem, 5 different times in the shop for fuel system issues.. and not the notorious booster pump issues, blew out front tire at 12,000 miles, rear blew out at 18,000.. and I mean blew.. like ripped.. no warranty on the tires. The topper? need a new trasmission... it also has a fuel leak and an antifreeze leak somewhere... a piece? ya I would say so. I bought this truck because I was so totally pleased with my 1994.. still have it. Same truck, except the 94 is a crew cab.. repairs on it in 170,000 miles? 2 sets of brakes.. yep that is it.. my 94 hauls anything, the 99? put a trailer behind it and empty you would think you are pulling a train. The dealer here does not help either.. every warranty repair had to call GM corporate to get them the dealer to "admit" it was warranty.. bye GM...
OK, the story goes on.. I am the owner of the GM Sierra in this review. Got the transmission replaced (not at the dealer). Also found out the fuel and antifreeze leak are a result of the previous repair done at the dealer.. (glow plugs and ECM - done 2,500 miles ago). The original repair was a warranty repair, but only after I called GM corporate and had them call the dealer. So, I contacted GM, asking them about taking it to a different dealer. I have no faith or trust in the one here locally. While sympathetic to all the issues I have had (sympathy costs them no money), I have two choices.. take it to the dealer who did the repair to start with and pay them $65.00 to tell me it was their fault, (as if that would happen).. beyond that they can tell me it is a different issue maybe warranty/maybe not and it will cost an additional $100.. or it is not what I know it is and they can jack me for another several hundred dollars. The reason I know what the problem is, is the mechanic that did the transmission saw the problem. I was an idiot not to have him fix it then, but I thought the dealer should handle it. So in the end, I have decided there is no accountability at all.. GM does not require its dealerships to be accountable and GM will listen politely and beyond that.. well we are back to the accountablity issue. GM told me if I took to another dealer all together, I would have to pay for the whole repair. keep in mind this is a warranty to begin with. I am so disgusted.. think I will just ride my horse from now one. On this truck $8000.00 in repairs to date, not counting normal maintenance.. truck has 80,000+ miles on it.. sad sad sad.
