1998 GMC Suburban SLT review from North America
"Without a doubt the poorest quality, most expensive car I've ever owned."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Dash vent on passenger side keeps falling out at 35,000 miles.
CD player stopped working at 40,000 miles.
Transmission blew up at 50,000 miles.
ABS sensor problem at 55,000 miles, chatters to a stop.
Oil lines to cooler leaking and had to be replaced at 55,000 miles.
Check engine light being set under throttle on hills. Dealer can't figure it out at 60,000 miles.
Rear wiper not working at 70,000 miles.
Door handles on driver door exterior broke at 75,000.
Interior door handle broke at 78,000 miles.
General comments?
This truck has been an utter disappointment. I've spent well over $6,000 in maintenance in 2 years time, and still have substantial repairs to perform. I've previously owned BMW's, and this kind of quality would not be tolerated or excused by a BMW dealer or BMW North America. Chevrolet and its dealers treat this kind of failure on a $45,000 vehicle as par for the course.
I will not purchase another GM vehicle. They've lost my business and I'm now looking to sell the truck to cut my losses.
