"In my opinion this car coast to much to maintain"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Head gasket

Cam Timing

Wiper motor

Indicator switch

Right rear door lock

Right rear seat belt

Front driver seat

Catalytic Converter

Radiator hose.

General comments?

All the things above have needed replacing or altering; I have owned this car for 4 months and has coast well over AUD$2000 for the above.

However when this car is running normally the handling and comfort is pretty good and the top speed (155kM+) isn't too bad for a small car. Holden dose not make parts for any of the Camira models any more so part can be hard to find and can be expensive e.g. The water pump on the JD coast almost double the amount of a falcon.

The 1.8L engine is a taught little motor a person I know run a engine for 2 months with a blown head gasket and the radiator fan not working and the engine was still in excellent condition besides the gasket.

I did the water pump on my 1987 JE the other day (190000km) and I purchased a new (after market) one at Supercheap for $49.00AUD. They are a little hard to get out. I used a 16mm bolt x 500mm long as a drift, a 1 1/2 lb ball pein hammer and hit from the top onto the water pump drive gear. The water pump is damaged beyond repair now, so don't do it unless you are certain the water pump is the fault. It pays to take the airbox out to have a little space to work in.
