1993 Holden Commodore Executive Series 2 review from Australia and New Zealand
"Good low cost car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Radiator replaced.
New windscreen.
Repainted bonnet, roof and tailgate.
Replaced central lock control on keys.
New harmonic balancer.
New water and fuel pumps.
Replaced faded outer trims around doors.
General comments?
I have found the car to be very solid (after minor rattles found and fixed) for a car with over 200k, and also very easy to work on (with the guide of a workshop manual).
Even though the engine is very noisy compared to other sixes, it has good power and is very reliable once sorted. But one thing which is very noisy on the engine is the alternator pulley, which I haven't fixed yet, but will be easily changed.
So I think that the VP wagon is an excellent car, and plenty quick enough for cruising around. I looked up a Holden website, and it said the standard V6 VP does 0-100 in 8.0 seconds, which is quicker than a VY sv6 by 0.3 of a second, and is quicker over 400 metres than any other natural Holden six (not sure about that, but it was an official Holden website), so keep em goin.
