1991 Holden Commodore VN Series 2 review from Australia and New Zealand
"A Dope Ride For Tha Brotha who want a Fast enuf Cruiser to blaze up in!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Power Steering Pump, Leaks from around the pump
Power Steering Rack: Really Noisy As it will run out of power steering fluid more and more the worse it gets (Common Problem With VN's)
New leads and plugs, but you still have a misfire especially under load- Coil Pack- Series 2 Is Better as there a 3 (they can be replaced separately) series 1 will cost a lot more as they are single units, DFI modules with melt the coil pack too, when they go.
Expensive...
Vibration from rear end mainly on acceleration/ take off is caused by rear control arms/and or bushes (another common thing)
Loud Aircon (possibly caused by stuff getting sucked in through the glove box. eg. Plastic Bags - Yes its happened to me!)
Leaky Boots are caused bu water coming through the rear lights- (check the plastic seals around the lights- Can shrink and not seal properly causing water to enter the boot and/or short lights.
Still Real Good Crazy Car, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Don't be put off VN is a powerful, good 4 cruising big cosy dutch mobile, get a auto!
General comments?
Vn for Life Baby!
All round good car quick, relatively cheap! a v6 but really any 8 under the vn you will beat any way!!
And with a CAPA www.capa.com.au supercharger beat the HSVs of that era baby!
