"Excellent so far, no buyer's remorse!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing. The only thing that happened was the first Accord got destroyed in a tornado when it only had 900 miles on the odometer.

The second Accord, an exact replacement, has been exemplary. One thing though; the second car has been getting about 26 MPG as opposed to the 21 MPG with city driving in the first car. I guess the tornado took care of whatever that issue was!!

General comments?

This is my grandmother's new car. She drove a fully loaded Saturn that she bought new in 1994 105,000 pleasurable miles and decided it was time for something fresh with more amenities.

The buying experience was very good. We went to a Toyota dealer to look at Camrys where we were promptly jerked around and treated to a dismal selection. We then drove over to the Honda dealer which had a huge selection and the salesperson did not even come out to talk to us until it was obvious that she had chosen which car she wanted to drive. Also, the salesperson talked to HER instead of me and my dad. They did not try to pitch anything unnecessary, gave her about a $2,000 year-end discount, and private party value for the Saturn instead of trade-in. Also, when the first car got totaled only two months later, they sold her the second one for the same price as the first one! I wish the Honda dealer where I live was as nice!

My grandmother absolutely loves this car. It has everything she wanted: heated leather seats, moonroof, auto climate control, and something she did not know about, but now loves; XM radio. Of course, it was a huge change from the Saturn, an excellent, but not-nearly-as-comfortable car. She also got the 100,000-mile warranty like she did with the Saturn, so no worries!

This car is fun to drive. The four cylinder truly is, like Consumer Reports says, more refined than most V6's. The i-VTEC is so powerful that it's hard to imagine wanting the more expensive V6! These latest Accords are also much quieter inside than the ones in years past.

In typical Honda fashion, everything works in a straight-forward, very logical manner. Also, everything smells, looks, and feels good. I am a loyal BMW driver, but I have a new love for Hondas because of this car.

It sounds like you work for a dealer. I like a Honda as much as the next guy, but this review sounds like it was lifted out of a Honda brochure.

It's not unusual for people to write positive reviews for their cars. We just happened to have a good experience with this car and I think it is important to let people know about how good a car is when most people are just hell-bent on telling everyone all of the negative points of whatever they buy. No, I do not work for a dealer, don't want to. And it just so happens that we did buy a Camry this weekend in my hometown because we have a good Toyota dealer as opposed to where my grandmother lives, where the Toyota place stinks.

To the person who wrote on July, 2nd.

Do you think Honda really need people who work for Honda to help sell these cars?? Why did you even come here?

Yeah, Hondas pretty much sell themselves. I realize some people have had bad experiences, but the odds of getting a bad Honda are pretty low. I've known at least 40 people in my life who have or have had Hondas and only one of them had a major problem, and that was due to damage caused by the previous owner when they let it overheat and it pretty much ruined the engine. They got a new engine though, and no more problems whatsoever!

The Accord is an excellent car (although I can't say the same for the Civic we had that totally fell apart before 100,000 miles) but for the life of me I can't understand why Honda and Toyota can't hire designers with a flare for original and sporty looking cars. A couple of our neighbors commented about another neighbor's used Saturn LS that they had just purchased. Looking down the street and seeing the car in profile, it was obviously a Saturn LS. A few days later I drove by and noticed a little "H" on the car. Closer inspection revealed it was a new 2008 Accord. Neither Honda nor Toyota has ever built a good looking Accord or Camry, and stealing the design of a 6 year old Saturn is NOT the way to go!!

Say what you will about the styling, but these cars still manage to win the hearts of millions because they are inoffensive and you can do a fair bit of personal tailoring with these. What other cars can be driven by grandmothers and college students and be seen as appropriate for both parties?

I agree, college students have lost their desire to drive sporty cars.

Ahem, the Accord is plenty sporty for most people, especially broke college students who are doing the best they can with what money they have. Not every college student can afford fire-breathing 400 BHP sports cars with massive (tacky) scoops and spoilers all over them!

I read the comments on Honda and Toyota having bland, generic looks. Most people who buy Honda or Toyota buy for their known reliability,..the looks are secondary to having a vehicle spend more time on the road and not in the dealership. My wife has a 1992 accord, high mileage, and still running strong with cost effective ownership. Our eldest son traded his Prelude in for a Mazda 323;.and we just got our youngest son out of his Pontiac FireBird into a Toyota Solara. The FireBird was eating him alive in repairs and fuel He's very happy with the Solara. My ride is a Nissan Maxima. We're pro Japanese in our automotive tastes and Honda Accords are great machines. Just do the simple oil and grease gun maintenance as required and they will last a long, long time."Good cars"...Boomer.

I have a 1996 Accord with 115,000 miles on it. I have owned this car since new and it has never given me any problems.

To the guy who said that Honda needs to hire better stylists and designers, and Honda has never made a good looking Accord. These conservative, sophisticated, and durable Japanese cars weren't made for you. You need to stick to your " Hey mom look at me" type of cars.

Original review update: 8,000 miles. My grandmother still adores this car and she has had absolutely no problems at all. "Accord #2" as she calls it came with a moonroof visor that "Accord #1" did not have and she decided she did not like it. I gladly removed it for her and she said her gas mileage on the 3-hour drive back home improved 2 MPG!

I will say these new Accords have more complicated controls than the older ones. They are easy for younger people like me, but decidedly intricate for someone who drove a fully loaded, but still relatively basic Saturn for so long! Luckily, my grandmother is always eager to embrace new things and has gone to the trouble to study the owner's manuals and learn the car inside and out. The heated seats and XM radio are her favorite features, and the eight-speaker stereo is great since she is somewhat hard of hearing.

If I have the money one day soon I might offer to buy this car from her if she takes a liking to the newest Accords. I still favor the '07 body style that she has to the '08 because it is smaller. I just hate it when cars get so much bigger with every redesign!

Totally agree with you. Where does it going to take us? Soon will be buying ships.

I always get a smile out of the optimism and excitement shown by FIRST YEAR buyers of cars like the Accord and Camry. Of course when you look back at the next 3 or 4 years of ownership, the true picture emerges. From 2003 thru 2006 virtually EVERY comparable domestic car has a higher number of satisfied customers, which very effectively puts the lie to the myth (and it IS myth) that imports are more reliable. Having had experience with a Honda that was anything BUT reliable, I'll stick with truly reliable Ford, Chrysler and GM products.

To the person who said they will stick to their GM, Ford and blah blah blah. Hope you have better luck than me, I just had to let my 300m go and that was after a crap load of repairs. The last repair just won't do; it threw a rod.

I just bought a 2007 Honda Accord and I will never go back to American made cars. I loved my car and the look, but I would like to drive a car and know that I am going to make it home.

If commenter 22:00 has the same Honda experience we did, he'll have to go to SOMETHING before too long. Our Honda was well on the way to the scrap heap by 50,000 miles.
