Other Notes***

My A/C went out back in 2005, and the dealer said it would cost around $1000 to repair. Fortunately I live in Michigan and it's not too horrible to deal with.

Unfortunatley, that same month the motor in my driver's door for the automatic window died. I pulled it apart and the tracks for the glass stuck so bad that the motor fried... so now that window's permanently closed. The other 3 and the moonroof open all the way though ;-

I managed to rip the door handle off of my driver's door as well, becuase I always rest my left arm on the door and the power lock... which locks all of the doors. I would constantly forget this and would pull the handle to climb out of my car when I'd park without remembering that the car was locked. Eventaully I just ripped it right off!!

The heat still works great, and the defroster works fine... and if there's a decent wind in the summer the fan will blow in the cool air.

I currently need to replace the ENTIRE exhaust system from the manifold all the way back to the chrome tips. I'm not unhappy with this though, because the michigan winters are REALLY HARD with all of the SALT. After 250K+ miles, I would think that it would be about time to replace all of the ORIGINAL exhaust parts.

General comments?

This car is extremely reliable. Time weathers/rusts/wears all of the the parts that are replaced regularly anyway, but the engine is still strong.

I've checked around and it seems that others have the same problems with their front tires' wheel bearings. I've replaced a few ball joints, half-axles, and control arms.

However, it still get's great mileage, the repair costs each time are generally mild, and I know I can count on diriving this car anywhere I need to.

Oh yeah, the 27mpg is a great help still too!

27 mpg is dreadful. For goodness sake buy a new car and let this one go to the scrap yard.

Purchasing new parts for this car is like throwing good money after bad.

On the contrary last Commenter. I also own an Accord. Mine is an LX 1991 WAGON. The only real problem I had was when my timing belt Jumped 4 teeth! This meant a rebuilt head, new head gasket. I did not have to do it, but at 198k miles I wanted to. I have had a new transmission computer, Fuel Pump, one control arm, new radiator and all hoses, new distributor (I got it free),no other suspension work, only rear wheel bearings, new back drums, and obviously the consumables, brakes, oil, tires, dizzy caps and rotors, battery! This car was bought at 127k miles in 2003,I am now at 260k!!!

I bought it for less than $3k CASH! It still rides good, but is not as good as it was obviously. I am hoping to get another 25k then scrap it. Seriously underrated cars, with lots of torque from 50mph onwards. Basically some of us like to keep good quality well built older vehicles so we do not have any car payments! I think telling the Reviewer to scrap his RELIABLE Honda is naive. There are so many other cars out there that would never give the kind of service myself and this gentleman are currently enjoying.

I appreciate your diligence/obsession in recording all your service records on this website. Keep it up and don't listen to the previous comentar. I had a 1993 honda accord that I drove almost 200k, Once of their better models.

Guy with the 91 Accord LX Wagon again. I must admit I do enjoy a laugh when I see so called newer more expensive vehicles broken down laying idle at the roadside due to the latest design fault. Mine has 260k and I would jump in and drive across America in a heartbeat.

I am the owner/writer. I simply copied and pasted my service records onto the website... I figured I'd let others see the records and judge for themselves.

I bought that car for $1,495 CASH as well, back in 2003. As of the last service dates listed my TOTAL car cost, including all repairs etc only equaled $4879.90. That MAY seem like a lot to some, but that INCLUDES the $1,500 I paid for it. It beats the heck out of making payments and big insurance payments (only need plpd) for a car.

It's solid and reliable, and like the other commenter, I can jump in it anytime and go ANYWHERE... and GET THERE!

As far as 27mpg being bad gas mileage... for a car with OVER 250K miles, that's great. It's as good or even BETTER than some sedans today.

Give it some time and I'll even update the maintenance records with my latest. Not obsessed, just impressed.

I am exactly the same with my Accord, probably spent 7k including the 3k purchase, but I have done 130k in it now! It is still worth 1k easy. I know no other car comes close to this for the price paid, comfort and reliability. I NEVER WORRY ABOUT BREAKING DOWN!!!

I own a 1992 Accord DX, it had 106k when I bought it and I put another 1,700 to replace some things. I have to say it's by far the best car I have ever owned. I have no fear of jumping in this car and driving anywhere cross town or cross country. To all who say buy a new car, keep your new one, I am looking for another Honda. Love this car.

Commenter with the 91 Accord LX Wagon again. I have just had to replace my steering rack and steering column. Luckily, I am skilled enough to perform this myself, and all parts were A Grade Used, so a mere $195 to the door. I shall therefore treat it to an oil change, these cars rock, as comfortable as a Lexus.

I own a '92 Honda Accord EX-R.

I would, in a heartbeat, spend the money to keep it running. In my opinion and from what I've seen, it is far superior in gas mileage in comparison to anything I've seen on the road that is newer.

I know because I keep track of odometer reading and how much goes into the tank. It beats out everyone that I know and mine is 17 years old.

No one, and I mean no one, in my family can beat my maintenance, fuel and insurance costs. Add into it that my car is still in mint condition because I maintain it regularly and I find I'm spending less money than everyone else... no lease payments or car loan payments help too. One more reason to keep it. Who can afford a $400/month car loan in these hard economic times? Not me, which is why I'll continue to drive my Accord for as long as I can.
