I had to replace the alternator, the A/C unit was shot early on-luckily, that was covered by the warranty. Now, the EGR valve nonsense.
I have been happy with my accord until this EGR crap. I think Honda should replace every one of these problems. It isn't our fault they built the car wrong. The whole 8 years or 80,000 miles extended warranty for this EGR thing is annoying. How much does this fix cost anyway? I guess I will have to head over to Honda. I brought my car to a Firestone service place (Highly recommended) and they found this EGR code on the diagnostic. Fun times. I don't think I would buy another Accord. I am thinking Camry next time...
Did you know the reason the EGR needs to be replaced is because the sensor is dirty? The sensor should be replaced and cleaned, but not at a Honda dealer. They charger 650 bucks at the dealer, which probably translates to less than half that at an independent shop.
I have 160,000 miles on my V6 Accord, and have replaced the alternator once, and now the EGR will be replaced tomorrow. I think the EGR is maintenance in my book because it is obviously clogged or dirty.
BTW you will not find anymore pleasure in a Camry, as it is as vanilla as japanese cars go. I test drove many Camrys, and even have relatives with them, and they are boring as ever, and the Accord offers more sport, especially with a manual.
