1985 Honda Accord LX review from North America

Have had some choke sticking problems in cold and wet weather and may need to replace the choke pull. The transmission overheated on a trip with a canoe on top driving 80 mph on a hot summer day for about 10 hours. Changed the tranny fluid a few times and have not had a problem since, but am much more careful and wish I could find the hondamatic fluid locally and would replace the tranny fluid again. Eats a muffler every couple years and starting to show age with cracked windshield, peeling paint and rust in a couple location, broken glovebox latch, fabric on back of rear seat giving out and lost the under engine plastic protective cover backing out of a rough forest roads ditch one day, opps. Has been up and down some very rough roads. Air conditioning has lost the charge and the old refrigerant can no longer be found legally and needs to be changed.

Great winter car, warms up quick when choke does not stick on, handles in the snow well though not so good in deep wet snow. Has been a very low cost daily driver with 30 mpg common ramping down to 25 mpg when driving fast on the interstate, on gravel and with studded snow tires on. Estimated my costs with purchase, maintenance, insurance, license and gas ($3pg) at about 22 cents per mile. On the down side is the small size.. the rear seat is not good for riders on a long trip and the weight of additional passengers with baggage bogs the poor little car down.
