I have been driving this car since 1986, for 21 years of very reliable transportation and good gas mileage.
This car likes Alternators!
Original clutch still working.
A/C first charge needed in 2005. When alternator went out in 2006 the a/c failed and the mechanic could not find what went wrong. Did not replace because of cost.
Best car I have ever had, but need to get something newer.
Mechanics have told me this car will go to 300,000. and I believe it.
I'm with you on this being the best car. I have had my 1986 Honda Accord Lxi Hatchback since the day it rolled off the truck at the dealership. I have 270,000 miles on it, with the original engine. I had to replace my clutch at 230,000. Unfortunately, I have to make a big decision. The rack and pinion went out on it. This is a $700 fix. I just don't know if I can pour the money into it. I love the car, but things are now starting to break down on it. Just shy of 300,000 miles, but it has been the best car. I have only had to replace the altenator once.
