1997 Honda Accord LX 4-door review from North America
"Goodbye and good riddance!!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Shakes at any speed above 45 MPH.
Stalls for no reason, at any speed.
Check engine light always comes on for no reason.
2 sets of brake rotors in 36,000 miles!!!
Gutless and weak, especially for a V6.
Transmission jerks when down shifting.
Fenders made of tinfoil, can't stand up to hail and stone chips like normal cars.
General comments?
I was fooled into buying a Honda by all the reliability myths and so-called quality reviews by all the big magazines. This is the most poorly designed car I've ever owned, in my 48 years on this earth. I traded a '91 Grand Marquis for this pile of crap, and severely missed it (the Mercury). Honda does not and refuses to build a car as rugged, reliable, dependable and durable as American carmakers do.
The only advantage the Honda had over my OLD mercury was SLIGHTLY better gas mileage, the few days out of the months it would run decent. I managed to swindle the FORD dealer into trading for this piece of crap, and am now the proud owner of a new 2002 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. Thanks for nothing Honda!
