Shakes at any speed above 45 MPH.
Stalls for no reason, at any speed.
Check engine light always comes on for no reason.
2 sets of brake rotors in 36,000 miles!!!
Gutless and weak, especially for a V6.
Transmission jerks when down shifting.
Fenders made of tinfoil, can't stand up to hail and stone chips like normal cars.
I was fooled into buying a Honda by all the reliability myths and so-called quality reviews by all the big magazines. This is the most poorly designed car I've ever owned, in my 48 years on this earth. I traded a '91 Grand Marquis for this pile of crap, and severely missed it (the Mercury). Honda does not and refuses to build a car as rugged, reliable, dependable and durable as American carmakers do.
The only advantage the Honda had over my OLD mercury was SLIGHTLY better gas mileage, the few days out of the months it would run decent. I managed to swindle the FORD dealer into trading for this piece of crap, and am now the proud owner of a new 2002 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS. Thanks for nothing Honda!
Honda reliability isn't a myth -- it's a fact. Looks like you got a lemon. Have you read any other Accord reviews here? Try it -- whether Europe, America, Australia, or NZ, same results. You got a dud. Just like Mercedes might make the odd lemon, their cars are normally good. So are Hondas.
Right, the Crown Vic guy again. How many Hondas did you trade off and say good-riddance to in January of 2002?
And what possible comparison can one draw between a Crown Vic/Grand Marquis and a Honda Accord? Talk about a market share that would hardly ever cross paths in the real world! An overweight and shoddy design from 3 decades ago, pitted against a refined machine that is universally praised for its reliability. What a difficult choice.
Don't knock the Crown Vics - aside from a few minor issues one needs to be aware of (plastic manifold, etc.), if they are taken care of, they will take care of you.
The Crown Vics are the only cars that FORD makes that are worth something. Every other car they make is crap.
Not all Ford Cars are crap.. I have 2 Aerostars.. Both perform excellently with no reliability concerns.. And they were the last Minivan on a truck frame with Rear wheel drive..
Next time you buy a honda, get it checked out first. not all honda's are perfect, sounds like the one you got was probley in an accedient and you got taken. any person can tell you that any domestic car will last you maybe 3 years if your lucky.
Cheap tin foil fenders? I have a 1994 Accord with 221,000 miles and the fenders have a few dents. But here is something that should be known. It has been in the path of many dangerous storms in Minnesota and South Dakota; hail from daily occurring tornadoes; salt flinging at 55 MPH from salt trucks; dump trucks that drop rocks and stuff going 75 MPH down the road. Sure it has some dents, but this little Accord has been to hell and back, like many Minnesota vehicles.
"domestic car will last you maybe 3 years if your lucky."
...looks like I'm pretty lucky. my domestic is 17 years old. Way longer/older than any other import has lasted me.
Okay then, we will just have to take your word for it. Those bean counters must not exist and your American car must be perfect. Though its 17 years old, it's platform still lurks around in a 2006 model year car with the same engine. You see, I bought my Honda because I want something that is four years old and not 17 years old like a Taurus. Bean counters are often shot when come close to Honda Headquarters. Honda is coming through with engineering breakthroughs that are, smooth, reliable, and efficient. If America sits around and drives 20 year old domestics much longer, there will be no General Motors or Ford Motor Company.
Ha HA HONDA!!! These cars are over priced hunks of crap!!! Very expensive parts!!! I work on cars for a living and I make a ton of money on them!! So keep driving them and I will retire early.
From a re certified master automotive and truck tech. I also have many other certs.

I all so work in the motor trade, and all cars go wrong. If they didn't no one would buy new cars. and me and you would be out of a job.
I have been a proud owner of a 97 Honda Accord and it has withstood a lot. I haven't had any major problems to exist. I have kept up the routine maintenance, and at 316,000 miles I have been pleased. I would also say with all makes/models there is always the possibility of getting a lemon or just a bad car.
