It's more like, like, what HASN'T gone wrong with the car:
Brake rotors warped twice.
Both head gaskets.
Faulty factory oil pan leaked, not installed properly.
Alternator.
Worthless transmission keeps searching for the right gear, never finds it, and shakes and shudders all the way there.
Poor quality door/trunk seals leak.
Poor acceleration and performance, especially in cold weather.
Engine shook at idle.
CV joints were shot at only 12,000 miles.
Worthless dealer tried to refuse to acknowledge these problems, and wouldn't until he was nearly beaten to a pulp.
If I wanted a piece of crap with tons of problems, I would've bought a Chevy Citation. I bought one new back in '82. More dependable than I can say for this loser-mobile. All that mumbo-jumbo about how Hondas are better than American cars makes me sick, now that I made the mistake of buying one. I'll be trading for a new FORD Crown Victoria Sport soon. At least these are proven cars that are powerful, durable, reliable, economical for their size, and can have someone touch their fenders without having them dent.
"Buying a Honda is like wiping your ass with a piece of crap".
I purchased a 2002 Honda Accord EX-V6 recently and it's every bit as good as I thought and expected it to be. Its quiet and powerful engine accelerates silky smooth, its refinement is evident. You never feel any engine vibration at idle thanks to the hydraulically controlled liquid filled motor mounts and the front subframe which further isolates the engine from the cabin. I've owned Honda and Acura products my last 2 vehicles up to 120,000 miles and have had no problems, simply change the oil and normal maintenance. Everyone that rides in my vehicle comments on how nice it rides and how well it isolates wind and road noise. I can attest to how well the car handles thanks to the front and rear stabilizer bars. But you don't have to take my word for it, pick up any car magazine the reviews of any Honda product and their reliability speak for itself. Are you sure you weren't mistaking Honda for Hyundai?
I have one simple response. If what you describe about the Honda Accord was true, Honda wouldn't have an excellent reputation as an industry leader. Honda also wouldn't have the high customer satisfaction rating the company has enjoyed since the introduction of its first vehicle. If 2 gaskets were blown on your honda accord, my senses tell me the vehicle must have been SEVERELY abused. At any rate I have an accord and have had zero problems, it was worth every penny.
I have owned many cars in my life Chrysler's, GM and Ford. I was always spending 300 dollars for this or that. I Finally took a chance and bought a 1991 Honda Accord. It never broke down on me ever, so I traded it for a 1995 Accord. Same thing, no problems or breakdowns. Now I Have a 2000 Accord with 26000 miles on it.Haven't had any problems yet. I find it pleasantly surprising that a Honda has never broke down on me in almost 12 years. So I think some people just beat on their cars too much and this is not that type of car. Has anybody else had such a good luck run of any car manufacturer? I also had a 1999 CRV no problems.
I am an independent ins. adjuster and drive on average 1000 miles\wk. I have a 1992 Honda Accord with 239,900 miles on it (it still runs great and is in excellent condition). I bought the car three yrs ago with 170,000 miles. I was somewhat apprehensive, but with a brother in law as a Honda mechanic (who has seen many Honda's with well over 300,000 miles) and the price of 3000.00 (because of the miles) I couldn't refuse. I never bought foreign until this car. My experience with Ford and Chevy\GM,barely passing 150,000 miles (I take very good care of my vehicles) and the problems with them turned me to foreign. I am purchasing a 2000 Honda Accord and giving the one I own to my wife. My old Honda has never given me any problems. I will always own one.
Head gasket, alternator, leaking seals, and CV joints all bad on a Honda before 30K? That's not believable even on low-quality cars. If you're going to write a phony review in order to bash Honda and shill for Ford, at least make it sound plausible.
And how does one compare an Accord to a Crown Victoria, anyway? The typical Crown Vic owner would find nearly any Japanese car too small, light, and stiff. And the typical Honda buyer would find a Crown Vic to be a wasteful, frumpy, dinosaur of a car with nauseating handling.
I find it interesting that you are not buying a Taurus, which would have been a valid comparison. Maybe you've read the reviews about its transmission, head gasket, and its re-sale value?
Any car can be a lemon, honda, ford, acura, toyota, nissan, cadillac, oldsmobile-nevermind olds is gone, Korean cars etc... maybe he did have these problems and yes it does happen as my brother works as a shop employee parts dept guy at a large auto park---Nelm's Landers auto park in Fay. AR... they sell/sold new Linclon, mercury, acura, honda, toyota, hummer, chevy, seems like a few more, and he said that out of like every 100 cars sold one will be a lemon and need things like C/V joints and the such before the 3/36k is up... but not commom, they sell about 3,000 cars a year new..., like 1%... also he said that most of the parts for all the cars assembled in America, which is most cars, all come from the same people... like Livona-transmission, Michigan, USA. Go to their web site... the make transmission for Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda, and may more... it is all about the same... lots of the same parts...he said that he calls the Livona plant to order transmission to be built for him all the time and they build most any type and are the primary supplier for the new car builders...
