This car STINKS. DO NOT BUY IT!!!
I purchased the car 4/98. After 8,000 miles the brakes started to pulsate.
At 13,000 the rotors were replaced. I also had problems with the A/C vents getting stuck. The dealer ended up replacing the vent.
The brakes stared to pulsate again by 20,000 miles and by 36,000 miles they needed to be cut.
The A/C control head needed to be replaced after 43,000 miles. The A/C cycled on and off. Let me tell you that HONDA knows there are problems and still require you to pay for the parts until they find a solution. Anyway, two days after I had the A/C control head replaced, the A/C started to blow out hot air. Brought the car back to the dealer to find out what happened. They stated there was a hole in the condenser and it would cost $1200 for the part. I found it hard to believe that something could fit thru the grille without damaging the grille and put a hole in the condenser. When I picked the car up, he threw the keys across the counter, said it was in the back and walked away.
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
9 months past until I had my dealer look at the car. He tightened a hose and replaced a seal and freon at a cost of $380. A big difference. I don't recommend them.
I had the water pump replaced.
A camshaft sensor was shorted and had to be replaced (The check engine light kept coming on).
I also replaced the hub bearing on both front wheels after 40,000 miles.
Recently the A/C started to have the same problem. I called Honda because I feel I should not have to pay for re-occurring problems. They couldn't care less about the consumer. They have your money already. Honda told me the only dealer that could repair it on good faith was the dealer that installed the part the first time. The ones the tried to rip me off. Honda just doesn't get it. They lost me as a customer. DON'T BUY THIS CAR UNLESS YOU WANT POOR CUSTOMER RELATIONS.
The writer indicated that he/she bought the car on 4/98. That's April 1998, why is this entry under Honda 2000?
I haven't had anything wrong with my Honda 2000, and it has 35,000+. Currently, it needs some windshield wiper blades and
an air filter. Other than that, it's a known fact that some automotive repair places are sloppy, do repairs that are not needed, and damage components to fail, so they get more business. Other than that, there will always be lemons, that's why there are lemon laws.
I have a 2000 Accord SE. This year alone I've spent $1000 on maintenance, not including 4 new tires. Honda spent another $2,000 or more to replace the transmission (under their voluntary extended warranty). The car has 47,000 miles and I've just been told it needs (you guessed it) new front wheel bearings, at a cost of over $500 to install.
Make up your own minds about whether it's worth buying this Honda, or any other, but I'm beginning to have serious doubts. A previously satisfied Honda owner (since 1979).
I have over 120,000 miles on mine and never had anything more than brake pads, timing belt, and regular service. To the first person that posted about the brakes having to be replaced that's from the way you drive. My sister is a heavy braker and is always having to have her brakes rebuilt.
