1988 Honda Accord LX review from North America
"A highly reliable car that won't empty your wallet"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The only things that have gone wrong with this car are: right rear ball joint blew out at 124,000 miles; A/C went in 1998 (not sure how many miles) and needs a new compressor; rust around the rear wheel wells (has been a problem with older model Accords).
General comments?
Other than those things listed above, everything that has been replaced on this car was from normal wear or scheduled maintenance. One of the things I don't like about this car is the weak 98 horses that it comes with. Although it is standard, I wish it had a stronger engine. My Accord is very reliable and rarely sees the repair shop. I even have the original clutch in it with 127,000 miles. The engine runs great and doesn't burn or leak a drop of oil. I have a lot of friends with newer cars than mine that have so many more problems... the next car I buy will definitely be another Honda. As long as you perform the regular maintenance, you won't have any problems with this car.
