Junk, junk, junk. Never again will I buy honda!!!
I have to disagree. Honda's are amazing cars and I've owned 4 over my lifetime and have never had any major problems at all, my last Accord going 383,000 kilometers! You are displeased with a '98 Odyssey, try a 2002. Underpowed, not this one - 240 horsepower! Owned my 2002 for over 6 months and an absolute joy to drive not a single, slight problem at all with it.
It's easy to disagree when you don't have problems. Mine has 40,000 on the odometer and is in the shop. But if I listen to the masses, then 40,000 miles and being up on a lift is "Unheard of". It is a little disheartening.
When I use to work in the auto industry it was always very funny for us to hear people say things like "I will never own a Ford again" or "I will never own a Honda again". Those phrases are just the way humans vent, plain and simple. When major companies like Ford and Honda loose a customer always remember that they are gaining another one elsewhere and at the end of the night or month for that matter it all evens out. All the Honda products I have owned.. from cars to lawn-mowers have performed excellent. This message is in response to the first post stating "junk, junk, junk I will never own a honda again" which reminded me of my auto industry job and how many good laughs we had when hearing customers say things like that.

Heh, I laugh at that kinda stuff too. It's just funny how people can judge an entire manufacturer just from a single bad experience they had.
Typically it was the V-6 transmission that would go out because it could not handle the power. My 1999 Accord Ex-VL, yep, the one with the V-6, is still trucking after 122,000 miles. You have to maintain these cars and change the tranny fluid! Especially since the transmission on the Accord does not have a filter. It is to no wonder that you have had so much trouble.
Is it only the US models with all these problems??? I have only ever had good runs from Hondas, but Mine were all Japanese assembled models. I know BMW had more issues with US assembled models, perhaps Honda is the same??? Our last one had done 250,000 Kms and still performed flawlessly - smooth Trans, too much power for front drive, tight suspension. I did have to replace the radiator... But it was 11 years old at the time!
The fact of the matter is, they had WAY too many major problems within 66k miles of driving. I don't think most brands considered "junk" by reputation have that many problems. I know I would be so angry if I spent a premium on a Honda over another comparable and cheaper car, and then end up with all those headaches and extra expenses. In this case, Honda was not worth the money. That reliability is so bad, they could have bought a Hyundai Sonata and probably been more pleased. Maybe after this Accord experience, they actually would be more pleased!
