2002 Honda Accord VP (value package) review from North America
"We are happy with the car in spite of the peeling paint on the bumpers"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The silver paint has peeled from both the front and rear bumpers. We suspected the rear bumper when a stock boy slid a 25 pound cardboard box into the car and peeled off some of the paint. The front bumper problem became obvious after going through a car wash. The dealer has repainted the front bumper, but refused to repaint (under warranty) the rear bumper because they claimed it was caused by customer abuse. The last trip through the car wash has taken another chunk of silver paint from the rear bumper, so we are waiting on word from the customer service rep.
We are now hearing that Honda may have had problems with silver paint in 2002.
General comments?
We are very satisfied with the over all reliability, performance and economy of the car.
The stability seems to leave a little bit to be desired, but I am suspicious of the original tires. We had replaced the originals with snow tires for the winter and I believe the handling improved. We just swapped back and the stability problem seems to have returned.
