1986 Honda Accord LX review from North America
"This car will never die"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The bumper turned white all around the car.
The seams on the top of the rear head rests came apart, but I think I can fix this with a needle and thread easily.
There is a little rust on the body above the rear tires, but I think this was because the car was driven up north for a while (snow and salt).
The throttle seems to stick a little. I went on a long road trip recently and after eight hours of driving it was stuck at 3,000 rpm at idle. I think I can fix this with some lube.
At 211,000 miles my alternator may be going out, but its served its time.
When I first bought it, I had to replace 6 or 7 lamps (brake lights, front parking lights, etc.).
General comments?
The cars performance is excellent, has a lot more "get up and go" then my mustang had.
The power windows and power door locks all still work. I am amazed that they have survived this long in this car. The power antenna and the cruise control even still work. The stereo also worked, but I replaced it with a newer JVC along with the speakers.
I like the interior because it is very comfortable, although in the newer accords there is more room, but I can live with this model.
