1986 Honda Accord LX review from North America
"Great first car!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Speedometer is broken and stuck at 196,000.
Driver's door handle fell off, and I also had several other problems with the door.
Power locks no longer work, when I first purchased this car, they made an awful noise.
Back windows are slow to work, and sometimes go down, but not up.
Steering fluid had bad leak.
Muffler fell off.
Radio did not work.
Sunroof leaks in heavy rain, and really bothers me.
This car has no air conditioning!
Rust above rear tires and around gas tank; roof paint is dulling.
Died out twice for no reason at all.
I put $700 more into the car then I bought it for.
General comments?
All around this car was a good bargain, I paid $300 for it, roughly $1,100 repairs included. I suppose that is not bad for a 17-year-old car. It currently runs pretty good, and is pretty dependable.
The interior is in perfect condition, except for minor wear and tear.
I replaced the Honda radio with a
newer Clarion radio bought at a junkyard for $50, and a friend installed new speakers.
The sunroof and power windows, for the most part, still work pretty good.
It is a simple, reliable car for a first-time driver. I suppose I could keep this car for another 5 years.
It is a very comfortable little car.
