2001 Honda Accord ex-v6 from North America - Comments

"Hondas are not all that good like that say"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I bought this brand new $35,000 junk Accord in june 2001 though it was a good car.

For one year "june 2001 to june 2002 nothing wrong.

One day I was pulling my car out of the drive way and heard a clicking noise comming from the trany- like when you put the car in gear.

So I brought the car back to the dealer

they didn't even take the car out for a test drive, and told me that the car needs a trany "3000km"

so the dealer put another trany in it.

Ran fine for 3 weeks and than broke.

That's when all the problems started.

Service engine soon light keeps comming on in the dash.

Dealer said it need another trany, so they put one in.

2 month later well making a left turn

at a stop light the car goes into limp mode "engine running, but trany not going into gear". I look down at the shifter and it was in drive4 but it would not go, I put it in other grears, but were all the same.

I had to shut the car off and start it again in the middle of the street with on comming cars in the other lane.

Finly I got going again.

This keeps happing over and again,

dealer has spent $17000.00 on it with defrent parts, but it still keeps happing to this day. todate the accord has 7500km on it, not very many km on it.

Well I have had it.

I going to buy something else

but not a junk honda.

So buyer be were.

General comments?

This was my first brand new car

that I bought

can't beleve this is happing on a new honda.

Samething happened with my 2001 Accord LX, tranny blew out at 43,000 miles, fortunately I had the dealer warranty. I think this (Transmission) is a general flaw with most of the Accords of this generation.

I'm in agreeance with the comment above.. The transmission on my 2001 Accord LX went out at around 45k.

Honda cars have got to be the most overrated cars ever built. It seems that anyone who owns a Honda becomes a brainwashed Lemming, buying into the delusion that Hondas are defect free, never break down, and have better performance than any other make of car, especially those "unreliable American gas guzzlers". The automotive press consistently praise Honda products while overlooking their flaws, and do exactly the opposite to any domestic vehicles.

I have a 2001 Accord Ex and it's an automatic. Two weeks after I drove the car out of the dealership I started having problems. One morning I reversed out of my driveway and then when I put it into drive and started accelerating the car stopped and then jerked back like it couldnt find the right gear. I got a little scared so I brought it into honda and they said that the car was fine! so my uncle took the car out for a test drive and got stuck in an intersection! He said it was defianently the tranny. My uncle went down to honda and talked to them about it, so they told me to bring in the car again. Come to find out it was the tranny and they gave me a loaner car to use for a week in a half. First Honda I ever bought so it didn't exactly leave a good impression on me. I haven't had any major problems since, but the tranny should not be going on a car with less than 40,000 miles on it!

The comments I have read here sound like the people just happened to get lemons. I think that is pretty obvious if they started having problems within the first few weeks, months, or year. With the comments presented, it sounds like the people are just speaking out of anger.

I have owned two Accords, 1995 and 1996 4 dr, 4cyl, LX models. I bought them used and never had any major problems with them. I changed the oil every 5,000 miles and put a couple starters in them. That's about it. They run like a champ. The only flaws I see seem to be the power windows (terrible) and the A/C.

You can't make an accusation of Honda just from one car you buy.
