2000 Honda Accord EX review from North America
"Too small, flimsy, and overpriced for my taste"
General comments?
My family has a 2000 Accord, and frankly, I'm not impressed.
The design is bland and generic. A poorly-aligned trunklid doesn't speak wonders for the car's build quality.
Inside, well-weighted knobs, buttons, and levers are offset by cheap materials, cramped dimensions and unsupportive seats. Also, an ashtray should come standard, as this is an EX, Honda's most luxurious trim level.
In motion, steering is crisper than that of a Camry, but handling is wallowy, engine drone is pronounced, and the ceiling squeaks horribly. The throttle, while being responsive, operates with a sticky feel. The steering wheel suffers from a skinny rim and flimsy cruise control buttons.
The trunk is adequate, but smaller than that of competitors. Also, an unlined trunklid and compact spare tire are out of place and unacceptable on a car in this class, where luxury is now an issue.
Basically, this is a lot of money for little car. Your money would be better spent on a Volkswagen Passat. It looks, feels, and drives like its German luxury brethren at a price comparable to an Accord. Now that's value.
