Engine ticks and sounds bad, power steering loose or something makes horrible squeaking noise only at idle. Clutch failed then worked again. (wierd)
Got desperate cause couldn't buy newer car.
(insurance would have been 340 a month Canadian)
got way ripped off $2200. runs good goes fast, but sounds horrible.
I was bored and I jumped a curb then it felt as if if the clutch went because wasn't grabbing gear let it sit for 3 hours then it worked fine.
Had better last me at least a year without major repairs.
Bottom line is I got ripped off.
The price you paid for that year and model is not way out of line. On any used car especially a 17 year old vehicle you have to anticipate and budget or have some mechanical ability to perform repairs and negotiate that before purchase. The Accord is one of the top ten vehicles on reviews. I have owned several and just purchased a used Acura TL-s (Honda Family) with a Car Fax Report. Its best to thoroughly check out a vehicle bring a mechanic or someone knowledgeable to help you next time.
Hey do you mind telling me what insurance company you went with I've been quoted for 2490 so could you tell me how much you were charged.
Purchased a 1987 exi and had to put about $800.00 in to it lto get it to pass Alberta inspection. This was with my backyard mechanic. Licenced would have charged me a lot more. Since then it has been quite good and has plenty of power and averages about 600km for a fill up. I change the oil and flush every 4000 km and add Lucus oil additive. This give it much more power and seems to run smoother. Overall I would buy another Honda.
My dad has owned an `88 Accord EX-i and it runs great, sounds great and is fast. He has had no problems with it for the 18 years he has owned it, except it has a lot of rust, and one of the brake lights is going out. But everything else, that you have complained about, works great for us.
HaHa, GOT MINE FOR 150 and needed an alternator belt =D.
