1981 Honda Accord LX Sedan review from North America

"Very cute, but very expensive"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When I bought it I put on new brakes and a muffler.

A few months later the transmission died.

After that it started stalling and no mechanics could figure out what it was due to the fact the stereo would also turn off they thought it was electrical so I got a new distributor cap.

That didn't fix the problem so I got a new fuel pump which did fix the problem.

The rest of the time I got 3 radiators all used.

A new carburetor right before the head-gasket blew and I had to get rid of it.

During the time I owned it I also put in a lot of money into regular wear and tear and maintenance such as oil changes, break shoes, CV boots, fuses, headlights, tires, and paint to try to touch up all the rust on the bottom.

General comments?

I loved this car it was very cute and the first car I have ever owned.

I bought it for $1200 dollars off some old lady who was they only owner and it had very low kilometers.

It ran great when it was running and everything inside the car was in great working condition, but it broke down a lot and I do not even drive very much.

The amount of money I ended up putting into the car was ridiculous and I should have sold it a long time ago.

The head gasket dying was the final straw it was going to cost over $1000 Canadian and I had just paid over $800 for a carburetor.

I decide not to spend the money as they frame was very rusted and I have been told by many people it was not safe.

I was going to get it towed to wrecker when a young mechanic came out and asked to buy it for like $50 it made me feel better that someone was going to drive it rather than it getting crushed.
